For nearly 20 years, the county’s year-round drop-off facilities in Brooklyn Park and Bloomington have provided a safe way for residents to dispose of hazardous wastes commonly found in homes.
These facilities are the best solution for residents to bring their household hazardous wastes, such as old gas, used oil, fluorescent light bulbs, lawn and garden chemicals, paint and electronics, that they may find when cleaning out their garages or homes the fall. By dropping off their hazardous waste, residents can be assured that these items are properly handled, disposed, and kept out of the trash where they can adversely affect human health and the environment.
Over the years, more than one million residents have used these facilities, some returning year after year, keeping thousands of tons of wastes from polluting the air, land and water.
The drop-off facilities are located at 1400 W. 96th St., Bloomington, and 8100 Jefferson Highway, Brooklyn Park. This Web site also features a new video, “Let’s Get Rid of It: Hennepin’s Answer to Household Hazardous Waste“, to learn more about facility operations and how wastes are properly managed.
