Faculty and university staff are invited to connect with residents, community advocates, and organizational leaders committed to strengthening partnerships between the university and North Minneapolis neighborhoods. This informal gathering offers a space for meaningful dialogue around community-identified priorities and opportunities for academic collaboration. The event will highlight ongoing efforts to establish a Women’s & Community Sports Authority in North Minneapolis, an equity-centered initiative aimed at positioning Minnesota as a national hub for women’s sports and inclusive economic development. Attendees will hear from a panel of initiative leaders representing the MN Vixen flag football team, Northside Bulldogs, Inner City Tennis, V3 Sports, Heritage Youth Sports Foundation, and OneMN, who will share nsights on their work and vision for community impact. Refreshments and light snacks provided. This event is free and open to the public.

Moderated by Saint Paul Reparations Commissioner and 2024 Bush Fellow Trahern Crews, “Can We Talk? A panel, dinner, and community discussion about the past, present, and future of I-94” will convene community members, residents, advocates, and reparations activists for a focused and values-driven conversation about “the problem of I-94.”

A free community dinner will be provided at the event. To help ensure we have plenty of food for all, RSVPs are encouraged, but all community members are welcome to attend.

Join the Urban League Twin Cities for Know Your Rights: Shape Your Future on Saturday, April 11 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in North Minneapolis. This free community event will provide important information on how to protect yourself and your rights in situations involving police stops, ICE encounters, eviction notices, car accidents, and workplace discrimination.

Join the Melanin In Motion Community of skiers, snowboarders, coaches, and their families as we celebrate the season of growth and exploration. What a Winter - We had our largest participation ever! Hundreds changed their relationship to winter and found adventure with friends as family and Joy Below 32 Degrees.

We will connect and share stories with the many BIPOC people who have found a love for nature and adventure in winter space. We will celebrate our graduates and coaches as we end the season with gratitude. This year we are making an intentional connection to our Summer of activity with Slow Roll. The Event will be held at 2834 10th Ave South on the Midtown Greenway at Venture Bikes Midtown. We learn all the ways that we can carry our momentum into biking, paddling and camping in Summer 2026. 

We will gather for a friendly walk and learn about the Midtown Greenway at 5:30 and have dinner at 6:30 pm . Please invite all that you know who loved winter and want to be outdoors in community. Register here

Opening Friday, March 27 with a special reception at 5pm, True North: The Art and Activism of Phillip Murphy honors the late activist and artist Phillip Murphy. This showcase will feature an impressive collection of images by the bold citizen journalist who used his camera to advocate for his community by documenting crime and injustice. Murphy was equally passionate about capturing the beauty he saw in the world around him, a special gift that was unique to the artist.
