  • For more information, click here.

City of Minneapolis will help you find financing to make repairs to one to four unit properties, such as:

    • Single family homes

    • Duplexes

    • Townhomes

    Sources of financing

    • Secured and unsecured loans ranging from $2,000 to $75,000

    • Loan options with or without monthly payments

    • Grants to address lead-based paint risks

    • Referrals to grant and volunteer-based no cost programs

  • Funding provided by the Metropolitan Council. After grant money runs out, no more funding will be available.

Funding varies by location of property. Click on the Interactive Map for grant amount eligibility.

Funding will be awarded on a lottery-based system. Those not receiving funding will be put on a waitlist.

A three-week application period will open up in February 2026. Applications will not be accepted before or after this period.

Those receiving funding will be notified in March 2026.

All repair work must be completed within 6 months. If the work isn't done, the funds will be allocated to someone on the waitlist.

  • Eligible residents who receive a notice about a dead, sick or hazardous tree can apply for help from the City.

The tree(s) or tree limb(s) must have been condemned and required to be removed by either the:

    • Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB)

    • City's Regulatory Services department

The program is income-based. Property owners must meet our income guidelines to qualify.

Rental property owners who want to remove a condemned tree need consent from their renters.
