Dear, Northsiders:
We know that paying for housing is really hard right now. Whether you’re a renter or a homeowner, here are some helpful tips from the Minnesota State Housing Agency.
For homeowners: Homeowners who are unable to make their mortgage payments—temporarily or longer term—should reach out to their loan servicer as soon as possible, and contact the Minnesota Homeownership Center to connect with a Foreclosure Prevention Advisor who can help them navigate the process and advocate for them if needed. This is true for all borrowers, not just Minnesota Housing borrowers.
Visit hocmn.org/for-homeowners/foreclosure-prevention to connect with a Foreclosure Prevention Advisor.
For renters: Consider applying for short-term emergency assistance from your specific county. Find your county’s contact information via: mn.gov/portal/government/local/counties.
Check out 211unitedway.org or call 2-1-1 for resources.
Open Your Heart's Emergency Rent Relief Fund is currently reviewing applications individually to ensure each household receives an appropriate response. Because of limited capacity, they ask that interested individuals or households email jmathias@oyh.org to request the application link.
